ESCALON — November 2, 2026. Escalon announced an October 2026 charitable sponsorship of $15,000 from PG&E to reduce barriers to youth recreation and support the city’s Junior Referee Program.
Who benefits
According to the city, part of the funding supplements scholarships for families needing help with youth sports registration. The city also intends to strengthen referee training, equipment and supervised work opportunities for teenagers.
A paid entry into sport
Escalon reports its Junior Referee Program serves more than 25 youth officials in a season, offering approximately 200 paid assignments and 300 hours of youth employment. The announcement documents an award, not an open-ended promise of free registration for every family.
How to ask about eligibility
Families should contact Escalon Recreation through City Hall and ask for the latest scholarship criteria, enrollment dates and referee training requirements. Awarded funding does not guarantee space in a specific sport or program.
